We answer your Questions about Stem Cell Therapy
What does the future look like?
Stem cell therapy is a rapidly developing field of regenerative medicine. Through continuous research and clinical studies, the range of treatment has expanded at a rapid rate. For example, cancer research has shown that the size and progress of tumors can be decreased by up to 80% through the injection of stem cells. The results achieved through stem cell treatment of arthritis and bone loss show similarly promising results in stopping tissue degradation. For many patients who previously had little hope for a cure, stem cell therapy provides justifiable hope for the recovery from varied diseases such as diabetes, Alzheimer’s, multiple sclerosis, cancer, heart disease and many others. The basis for this medical vision, however, is an open and transparent action within the scientific field coupled with moral and ethical responsibilities, as well as regulated research with clearly defined boundaries.
Is there any clinical research?
The beginnings of stem cell research date back several years. The basic principle for reliable treatment with modern stem cell therapy is clinical scientific and experimental research, supervision and evaluation. Various studies that could reveal the effect of modern stem cell therapy with stem cells from fatty tissue have been conducted and published since then. Read more under Science.

How high are the costs?
The costs involved in stem cell therapy are laid down individually depending on the clinical picture. The time and effort for the following are taken into consideration:
Removal: Fat cells are removed from the body (liposuction) for modern stem cell therapy).
Reparation: The dosage of stem cells needed for therapy is prepared from the removed fat cells.
Treatment: The diseased tissue is treated with the stem cells prepared from the fat cells.
Stem cell therapy is a very new field of medicine. Due to the shortness of time, it is not possible to have long-term studies. According to today’s state of knowledge, treatment to regenerate cells is sufficient for symptoms of wear and tear. In the case of purely inflammatory complaints, several treatments may become necessary.
Are there any risks or side effects?
There is no medical intervention where there is a guarantee that there will be no complications. The risks of stem cell therapy are however so low and originate from possible infections or bleeding at the site of injection. For a healthy patient, the mere administration of stem cells thus involves no risks according to today’s state of knowledge. However, as we do not know at this point in time what effects stem cells have on tumours, tumour patients are still currently exempt from stem cell therapy.
How ist the dealing with ethical principles?
Ethical principles are rightly discussed in the scope of stem cell therapy. Ethically unacceptable and thus prohibited in Germany are therapies with embryonic stem cells. Therapies with adult stem cells must be viewed critically if these stem cells are altered via gene manipulation or so that tests are performed on humans. Yet the effectiveness of all new therapy methods has to be monitored and tested clinically.
The Center for Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Therapy solely uses the body’s own stem cells from fatty tissue. The stem cells are not altered or cultivated. Shortly after cleaning the stem cells, which is necessary for treatment, they can be immediately used for therapy. The stem cell thus only leaves the body for a short time and is not stored unnecessarily in the laboratory.
